Cool Down is the second in a series of diptychs exploring figural relationships and emotional states through use of color. Cool down was a response to Heat, in that it explores a different kind of emotional consequence that finding human connection through nightlife can entail. Echoes of blurry figures fall over one another, guide each other to bed and float in a drunken stupor. The light areas of the painting were created by dry blending a very small amount of paint away from the saturated figures, while the “echoes” were added using a fine detail brush.
